I finished a Sumatran Tiger painting today, and I kept the under-painting rather minimalist, the only real areas are light and dark, and the contrast between them is not that great, so painting is made fairly easy and straightforward.

The transparent Indian Yellow, is built up in layers to give a bit of depth to the tigers fur.
All yellow areas are Indian Yellow only. and the difference in colour, is simply thicker coats of paint in that are in that area.
The dark’s are a mixture of Navy Blue and Burnt Sienna.

Short story involving a Sumatran Tiger Head – Original Oil Painting
For centuries, the Sumatran Tiger has been a symbol of strength and power. As an endangered species, it has become even more revered and respected as a symbol of our planet’s fragility and the need for conservation. As an artist, I wanted to capture its beauty and majestic presence in a unique and meaningful way.

Using artist-grade oil paints, I painted a Sumatran Tiger head on a large canvas. The background has dark undertones, which set off the vibrant oranges and yellows of the tiger’s fur. I wanted to make sure that the tiger was the focal point of the painting, so I used a variety of techniques to give it a three-dimensional look.

The painting really came alive when I added the finishing touches. I highlighted the eyes, nose, and whiskers with a deep black and used a light yellow to make the fur shimmer. I also used a rich brown for the stripes, which gave the tiger a realistic look.

The painting was a huge success. Everyone who saw it commented on the realism of the tiger and the skill of the artist. I was proud to have created a piece of art that was a tribute to the beauty and power of the Sumatran Tiger.
